I love Italy & Italian food, and I know that I’m not alone with that. And I can honestly tell, that I never, ever had a bad time in Italy – including that time when I came all the way from Poland to find out that my Italian boyfriend dumped me. And I can’t believe that my last visit in “Bella Italia” was 2 years ago…well, time surely flys. But this painting, a few sketches and tons of pictures reminds me of our summer in beautiful Tuscany. Hot days, rainy nights – which were a blessing – very good wine and even better host. You can not ask for more… but I did. I wanted to have a typical Tuscany house, pool, cypress view and wine growing when I walk out off the door, and I got that and even more! This view above was what you could see when you took just a short walk into the wine growing. I saw it and I knew that as kitschy as it is, it will find the way to my canvas. First I thought that it will be on our living room wall just for a short time, but now it grows into it so much that it’s hard to imagine it could be somewhere else… (don’t get me wrong, I do sell my paintings, so if you are interested let me know). Especially when the winter comes, and when the summer becomes a memory, a small glance is enough for me to take “a very short trip” there.
And although we can still enjoy warm weather, and I can still use my bike as the main transport vehicle (I hope that it will be like last year – 6 of December I was still on my bike) – I spend evenings on drawing some sketches, just to have a chance in winter time to pull them out so they remind me why I will visit Italy for the 30th, 40th, 50th, or 100th time. I can assure you that there will be more Tuscany landscape paintings on PB & co. For now I am in the “architecture mood” which brings me back to Florence, Siena and all those Italian towns, where while walking you don’t know where to look first to be sure that you don’t skip any spot, because it could be the most beautiful spot which you have ever seen – or not if you do skip it.
And where is your favorite place in Italy? Or maybe it is somewhere else in the world?
