Since I remember I wanted to learn how my mom makes this pie. This is the #1 pie recipe which I ever baked, and for a long time it was the only one which I could bake. As simple as it is, it is still my favourite pie. And because the apples are stars of the fall, I could not resist making it and publish this on pb&co. So ready, steady, go!!!
And this is what you need:
for the dough:
- 350gr of flour
- 3 yolks
- 200gr of butter
- 150gr of icing sugar
- optional sour cream
for apple puree
- 1,5kg sweet-and-sour apples
- 3 Tbsp of brown sugar
- 2 Tsp cinnamon powder
- 5 cloves
- a bit of water
And this is how I do it:
Peel off the apples, cut them in small pieces and put them in a pot. Add sugar, cinnamon, cloves and water. Mix all together and cook slowly until they turn into the puree.
In a big bowl put sifted flour and icing sugar. Make a little hole in the middle, add yolks and cutted butter. Knead all together. Put the ready dough in the fridge for 1 hour.
Preheat the oven to 180°C. Put the baking paper in the baking pan. Take the dough out of the fridge, cut half of it and roll it out. Put the rolled out dough in a baking pan, so that the sides of the pan are also covered with it. Use a fork to prick the dough. Place the baking pan in the oven for 15 minutes. Take it out and let it cool down a bit. Put the apple puree on the prebaked dough. Roll the rest of the dough and cover the puree with it. Bake for another 15 minutes. The top of the pie should be goldbrown. Take it out and let it cool down. Now a bit of icing sugar on top of it and your dessert is ready.
Attention!!! It is possible that when you start to eat it, you will not stop until is all gone!!!
Have a nice Sunday, and don’t forget to share this recipe with your loved ones!!!
